Marty & Dino Bertoli

Marty Bertoli
RATCH, NAJ, NF, FCAT3, TKE, CZ8P2, LD

Marty was found wondering the streets of Jacksonville, FL when he was approximate 2 years
old. Because he was chipped the rescue service was able to locate the owner. When they
reached out to the owner, they said that they no longer wanted him. That meant one thing for
me, road trip!
He is the first dog that I trained. We started with basic obedience classes then on to trick dog
classes where he earned his Trick Dog Elite title. Later we were introduced to Agility by way of
Bark in the Park in Lebanon. We were sitting in the stands waiting to watch the dog show
performance when out of nowhere Marty started squealing and screaming with excitement as
the dogs were performing. I had no doubt that agility classes were in our future. But what I didn’t
know is that there was a whole world full of dog sports and I was about to begin a new journey
in my life.
He recently earned his RATCH and we are currently working on his RATCHX. He loved Fast
CAT until he retired from it. He still plays agility but enjoys hunting far more. In his spare time he
can be found in the backyard chasing and barking at squirrels for hours on end, rain or shine.

Oakley & Stephanie Sefick

Music City’s One of A Kind
RGNC, RATCHX7, REMX7, UKCCh, IntCH, ORT, RI,DSA, CZ8P3, ACT1, TKP, CGC, VL-B, FITB, BCAT

Oakley (born 11/2021) is Stephanie’s first Aussie and first sport dog. Oakley began his barn hunt training with Kristy at MCDS when he was just four months old. He won the Southeast Regional Grand National gold medal in March 2023 and the Regional bronze in March 2024. He competed in the 2024 Barn Hunt Grand National, earning the gold medal and the title RGNC, Grand National Champion. Oakley ended the 2024 National with a second place in Versatility and a 1st place in hurdles as well.
Barn hunt is Oakley and Stephanie’s favorite activity, and they both love learning and implementing new training methods, frequently videotaping their runs to analyze after trials. Moving on quickly from rat tubes and continuing Oakley’s work on tunneling first and heeling out of the start box are top goals for 2025, along with continuing to attend trials in more new places. Steph and Oakley are both excited to be teaming up with Kristy and Aquaman for the upcoming regionals!

When Oakley and Steph aren’t working on dog sports, you can find them out in the woods hiking around Nashville and in Canada or on instagram @roamingoak. Other sport goals for the 2025 season include titling in obedience and beginning tracking, but the ratties are always top priority!

Axel & Courtney Morgan

Axel Von Morgan of Braunfels
RATCH, CD, PCD, BN, CGC, TKN

Meet Axel, my amazing Doberman and the best companion a girl could ever ask for. Clever, sweet, and quick to learn, he's always up for an adventure.
Axel took his first barn hunt seminar on his second birthday and earned his RATCH just before turning four. He loves the game, and it's a joy to see him in action.
Alongside barn hunt, Axel competes in obedience, and is now diving into scent work. His drive, intelligence, and enthusiasm make him fun to watch and even more fun to compete with.

Sawyer & Samantha Psanis

Sawyer
RATCH, LD

Sawyer was adopted by Sam after being dumped on a farm when he was 8 months old. He's an Australian Cattle Dog mix, and has become Sam’s shadow.
In 2022, they started barn hunt classes with Kristy and they were instantly hooked! Sawyer has earned his RATCH and Line Drive Titles and is currently working towards a Crazy 8s title.
When they’re not playing barn hunt, you can find them both at Mules N More Rescue and Rehab, their nonprofit animal rescue! Sawyer helps with keeping the feed room rodent free thanks to his great experience at Music City Dog Sports.

Gage & Susan Plaiss

MACH Firefly's Token Of Defiance BN, RE, MXB, MJB, XF, T2B, DCAT, CGC, TKN, RATCHX, CZ8G
Gage is a boisterous little guy who loves to hunt. He was supposed to be my next performance (agility / rally / obedience) companion, but he did not care for those activities. In my search to find something he liked (other than just getting cookies) I decided to try barn hunt.
We took our intro to barn hunt class with Kristy in mid 2022 and had our 1st competition in November 2022. With the wonderful guidance and training with Kristy and very limited trialing we made it through senior with only 2 NQs (which I am sure were likely my fault) by May 2023. Did I mention he loves this game??
We attended the 2024 Barn Hunt National where he did not come home with any ribbons, but he did awesome and I could not have been any prouder of his performance in that environment!
To round out our 2024 season Gage was the #1 Fastest Master Papillion and #6 Master dog in Alabama!

Ava & Kelli Parker

Ava Parker, RATCH
CGC, CGC-A, SWN, SWA, TKN, TKI

I never dreamed I would have a relationship with a dog as amazing as Ava. She is an 6 1/2 year old Aussiedoodle and we have a bond that will never be broken.

We started with a Puppy Kindergarten class and quickly obtained our CGC and CGC-A. Ava enjoyed trying Rally, Fast Cat and Agility, but I quickly learned that what she loves is using her nose!!!
We took Scent Work classes and earned overall Novice and Advanced level titles, but all that changed when Ava smelled her first rat!!! We competed in NASDA and earned level II titles until we went to our first barn hunt trial. Ava adores finding rats in the hay!!! I credit our training with Kristy at MCDS for helping us achieve our RATCH title. We are going to trial at regionals in 2025 too!!!

Moon & Kellie Verrelli

CH RACH Akekal's Bad Moon Rising
RM3, RAE2, RC, FDC, AX, MXJ, MFB, FCAT2, ACT1, RATCHX3, ATT

I feel like Moon is a once in a lifetime dog - but I am biased because I bred her and she picked me. She is up for doing anything I ask. While her favorite things are running and barking - or anything that goes with that she will do the boring stuff also and do it well.
She got her breed championship and Rally championship. She will relax and just hang if we are not doing stuff but is always ready to jump up and go do stuff. Chase a ball - Check - help move sheep - Check. Do agility Check. Be calm and heel next to me - Check - She will relax quietly in the blind waiting for our run then explode into a frenzy of barking and jumping as we go to the line. You always know when Moon is in the barn hunt ring - it's never quiet.

Brody & Tabitha Crawford

Brody's Panda Bear
RATCHX3, FDC, CAX, FCAT2, SWE, SHDA, CGCU, TKI, ATT, FITB, FTN, DS
Brody was a rescue dog and has come SO FAR! We spent hours socializing him, going out and about so he could learn that the world is a fun and happy place.

I never imagined he would be such an amazing dog!

He has been a blessing. He has been a true friend and companion. He welcomes all the rescue dogs I bring in to the house and shows them the ropes.
I wasn't sure he'd be able to handle the stress of being a competition dog, but he came up to the challenge and then some! He's a blast to train and has earned titles in Barn Hunt, Scent Work, Fast Cat, Tricks, and Dock Diving.
I can't wait to see what our future holds. Maybe agility training will be our next new challenge!

Taz and Andrea Entin

Taz, RATCHX13, CZ8p7

Taz is a 5 year old Borgi (border collie, corgi cross) who does barn hunt and agility. His favorite activity by far is definitely barn hunt which he didn’t start till he was 1.5 years old. Coming into 2025 he has already achieved his RATCHX 13 and is sitting on just over 16,000 crazy 8’s points.
As if that isn’t enough, his 2nd time attending Barn Hunt Championships he came away with the Games Gold medal! I wanted to come in and be consistent and try to get a few more ribbons than the year before. This little boy has exceeded my expectations as a sport dog and is a great family member.

Coal & Julia Johnson

Lickskillet Diamond in the Ruff
RACH, UD, CDX, BN, RM3, RAE2, HT, CA, FCAT, ACT2, ACTJ2, FDGCH, DS, DJX3, RATCHX, CZ8P, REMX, CGC, TKA, ATT

Coal, is a big black tri Australian Shepherd. He's a true multi-sport performance dog having earned title in eleven sports: coursing, barn hunt, Fast Cat, rally, obedience, flyball, dock diving, agility, herding, Fetch, and tricks. He is a rally and barn hunt champion. Most of all he's my “heart dog”.
He's probably best known for his loud, constant barking when he's excited and fired-up. Everyone knows when he's in the building. There is no aggression in his temperament but a little reserved around strangers. Around friends he usually requests a back scratch as he goes between your legs. True to the breed, he needs a job and loves to work.
All of these accomplishments would not have been possible without the numerous instructors/teachers that have shared their knowledge, provided guidance, support, and encouragement along this journey.

Kira & Tabitha Crawford

KIRA'S KARE BEAR
RATCH,RI, FDC, CAA, FCAT2, ACT2, ACTJ2, SHDM, SWE, CGCA, CGCU, TKI, ATT, FITB, TN-N

Kira is a great companion and an all-around German Shepherd. She came into my life when I needed her the most and she has become my best friend, soul mate, and whole heart.
We have accomplished so much in various sports. She loves every sport and outing we do as long as we do it together.
She's earned her RATCH and we're currently working on her RATCHX. She also has titles in a multiple of sports including Lure Coursing, Scentwork, Rally, and Agility (NADAC). I'm looking forward to participating in the above sports as well as any others that come our way.

Gunther & Emily Grove
Gunther Vom Grove Haus
RATCH, FDC, CAA, DCAT, CGCU, CGCA, TKA, ATT

Gunther enjoys multiplee sports including coursing, fast cat, dock diving, frisbee, agility , rally and trick dog. However his absolute favorite has been barn hunt. He has shown a high level of enthusiasm for barn hunt from his first lesson with Kristy. In his first 13 months of barn hunt he earned, 13 high in class awards, his RATCH title, and 7 different 2022 placements in the Barn Hunt Association year end stats.
At home Gunther enjoys playing tug/fetch, sun bathing on the deck and cuddling Emily in bed at night. Being Emily's first sport dog has been an adventure and they look forward to exploring more sports including scent work, obedience and weight pull in the future. Having a wonderful companion at home and a versitile sport dog willing to try any sport thrown at him has been a unique experience that Emily never expected when she was gifted Gunther as a puppy.

Cherry & Julie Dawson
CH Sunrunner Montague Cherry On Top
RN, MX, MXB, MXJ, MJB, OF, FCAT, TKN, RATCH

CHERRY is a fun girl who has dipped her toes in many different rings including confirmation, rally, FAST Cat, dock diving, agility, and barn hunt. She is currently working towards her RATCHX in BHA, and her MACH in agility. She has also done commercial work.
She is always full of surprises but enjoys just snuggling with her mom as much as anything.

Lewis & Vickie Tillman

RATCH Lewis le Soleil de Tillman
BN, RE, FDC, CAA, FCAT4, ACT2, ACT2J, CGCA, CGCU, TKN, CRZ8P, LI-1, SD-1, TL1, TB-1, UL-1, VLB, SVB

Lewis was placed with me when he was almost 3 years old when his 80ish year-old owner had to go into a Nursing Home. He recently earned his first RATCH. He is now 9-years old and a enthusiastic rat hunter. In addition to competing in Barn Hunt, he competes in NASDA, CAT, and Fast CAT. He earned his FCAT4 last fall and is close to earning FCAT5. Hunting rats and running are his favorite activities. He tried agility but developed arthritis in his back, so he no longer competes in agility in the "big dog" venues but occasionally competes in Teacup Dog Agility (TDAA). His favorite agility obstacle is the A-Frame and would do it numerous times during a run. He also likes to pick up the cones and carry them around.
Lewis is a very happy guy and keeps me entertained all the time.

Elaine Nichols and Clay

Lookaway Live, Laugh, Love
RN, CA, DCAT, CGC, TKA, RATCH, FGDCh, MBM
Clay is a very active Australian Shepherd. He loves his sports, at any time he may be doing Flyball, Rally, Coursing, Fast Cat, Tricks, Barn Hunt or playing at home with the Chuck-It. Anytime he is off lead at home, you'll find him standing where the Chuck-It lives watching it, trying desperately to show you what he wants to be doing next.
As active as he is, if my lap is available, he's curled up in it. Basically, if there is something fun happening, Clay wants to be a part of it. When he goes to visit the farm, he has even dabbled with his herding instincts, trained in tracking and has learned agility skills as well. Just not enough time to make it all happen. Although, he's willing to work with his other humans, if Mom is not available.

Carys & Caroline McBride

CARYS
RATCH, CZ8B, FCAT, DN, DJ, DJA, DJX, DS, DSA, FGDCH 40K, MB Onyx, Iron Dog, Urban Locating 1, Shed Dog 1

Carys is a happy girl who loves her dog sports. She is my first sports dog and she has excelled at everything we have tried. Carys competes in Flyball, Fast Cat, Barn Hunt, Dock Diving and NASDA. She also knows Agility and can run the course but we never got around to actually competing in Agility.
Her favorite sport is Flyball. She also loves to play fetch and would play ball all day if she could.

Sheri Willis and Madigan
Mad About Madigan
RATCHX6, REX3
Madigan is a super-fun performance dog because she is so enthusiastic and energetic! Her first sport was Agility but soon after she started competing in Agility we discovered that she LOVES hunting rats. We are continually introducing her to new sports and she is always happy to try anything.
Madigan has well over 100 performance titles - including 9 Championship Titles. It's no surprise that all 9 of her Championships are in her favorite sport - Rat Hunting! She has earned 6 Barn Hunt Championships ('RATCHX6') and 2 Hide 'n Seek Championships ('REX3') and she is close to earning her first Agility Championship (hopefully in 2021). She currently competes in Agility (NADAC & CPE), Rat Hunting (Barn Hunt & Hide 'n Seek), FastCAT and Lure Coursing.

Jane Kline and Marty
Imagineer Dream It Do It
RATCHX, CZ8S, FM, MBDCH, ACT, II, RI, NA, NAJ, NF, CGC, TKA, GS-N, JS-N, RS-N, SPJ, RL1
My husband had just retired and was ready to get his own companion dog. We had completely different reasons, but we agreed on Marty. She is as comfortable and happy in his lap as she is at Happy Dog Ranch learning new skills. Marty likes variety, her week often includes barn hunt, flyball, agility, rally, and chasing squirrels. She is a great training partner for me and an even better companion for my husband.

Kristy Netzer and Diggity

RATCH5 A2M Hot Diggity Dawg
RATSX5, AD, AXJ, OF, TD3

Diggity has been such a fun and enjoyable companion and competitor. It took a while for her to turn on to training. At first, she would rather run around the agility arena and throw her toys and pounce on them than play with me. But with a lot of patience, she learned to love working and training.
We went to the 2015 Barn Hunt Nationals and I didn't expect much from her. She didn't seem to love Barn Hunt but I thought it would be fun to go.
Boy way I wrong! It's like she knew we were at a National event. I couldn't believe my little dog! She was a rock star and ended up winning the Silver medal. She was only a year and a half old.
She has just started competing in agility and we are going to start Rally training soon. I'm so excited about the future with Dig. Not only is she a lot of fun to train, but she's an awesome dog, too!
